Whether your project is new construction or a remodel, professional room design is a very specialized and detailed process. We do not use computers to spit out the most universal combination. Instead, each design is meticulously prepared based on your specific needs and desires. We present each client with a creative design that is not only functional, but truly one of a kind.

PHASE I - Consultation
Getting to know each other, gathering information and discussing options is the first portion of this phase. From our first question and answer session, designs will be developed based on your specific wants and needs. In the case of a remodel, the layouts will be based on actual home measurements. For new construction, we will work from your construction blueprints. This phase requires two to three visits of approximately one hour each.

PHASE II - Scaled Layouts and Drawings
If you enjoy working with us and are mutually excited about the design ideas, you may wish to proceed to this next stage. After the payment of a Design Fee, the kitchen will literally begin to come to life. Specific cabinetry details and design elements will begin to evolve in the form of scaled three-dimensional drawings. With the professionally drafted renderings, you can feel yourself "step into" your new space! (Please note: color selections and tile designs are Phase III items.)

Kitchen Design Fee: $1,000
Half of this Design Fee may be applied toward the purchase of Wood-Mode or Brookhaven cabinetry for the kitchen designed.

Master Bath Design Fee: $750
One third of this Design Fee may be applied toward the purchase of Wood-Mode or Brookhaven cabinetry for the bath designed.

PHASE III - Project Completion
If you choose to incorporate Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry or Brookhaven Custom Cabinetry into your newly designed space, a wealth of services begins to unfold in this third phase.

• We will guide you through the selection of appliances, fixtures and surfaces. We can assist you with the correct balance of color and texture, and help you choose the best value for your needs.
  
• Even if we are not providing the light fixtures, we gladly give advice on general, task and specialty lighting. Lighting is very important - it can make or break a great design.
  
• We make ourselves available for meetings with the contractors, framers, carpenters, and other subcontractors with plans and details provided for all. In most instances the actual room layout will be drawn on the floor in magic marker at the framing stage.
  
• We provide electrical and plumbing centerline plans for the newly designed areas, as well as specifications for any applicances Kitchens by Design is providing. We participate in walk-throughs with these trades.
  
• We keep an eye on the general progress of the area, alerting the contractor to any discrepancies. During cabinet installation, we check in with the installer on a daily basis.
  
• Backsplash and tile design is essentially permanent artwork for the room. Therefore, we pride ourselves in unique tile combinations - everything from the stately simplistic to the boldly detailed. If tile is purchased from Kitchens by Design, we will not only provide detailed plans/drawings, but will also direct the placement of switches and outlets, as well as meet with the tile layer the day of installation.
  
• If you desire, we will help you select paint/wallpaper for the wall finishes.
  
• And we keep you organized! We will present you with your own specification sheets for the space/spaces we are designing. All the pertinent information will be included. Bring it with you to our meetings and we will update it for you as decisions are finalized.
