Jan Parker, CKD

With a background in graphic design and a degree from Wichita State University, Jan Parker began her career in kitchen planning and design in the early 1980s. In 1987, Jan became the first woman in the state of Kansas to obtain the professional status of Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD). In the late 1980s she began studying the marketing and design of model homes. Jan's model home designs were showcased in such areas as Polo Estates, Tallgrass, and Beacon Hill. In 1989, she established her own company and showroom, Jan Parker's Kitchens by Design, LLC.

Jan has designed four Symphony Showhouse kitchens, the Inn at the Park, #2 Parkwood, 205 North Roosevelt and 15001 E. Pawnee, and has had designs featured in national publications. Wood-Mode, Inc., the largest custom cabinet manufacturer in the United States, featured one of Jan's kitchens in their Design Guide brochure for several years. She has been a finalist four times in national design competitions sponsored by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). In April of 2000, Jan was awarded Second Place honors in the NKBA competition for her home theatre and wet bar design for a Wichita family.
